Khensani Nyango.
In just less than a week in the studio, Khensani Nyango (22) seems to be coping well while presenting her mid-morning show to more than 1.5 million listeners in Limpopo Province. Despite her immense passion, dedication and commitment for radio, she was nervous at first, but now the charismatic presenter says the fear is gone and feels more relaxed.
The young lady has just joined ‘Limpopo’s hottest frequency’ Capricorn fm. She is the new presenter for the 9-12 pm slot, Mid-morning Rendezvous, filling a void left by Nthateng Lerata who joined SAFM. She went on-air on the 2nd February 2009.
Nyango (22) started her career in the broadcasting industry at her hometown of Phalaborwa where she worked at Phalaborwa community radio station. She was a presenter and a producer of a life-style programme since the station’s inception five years ago.
Like other infamous turned prominent presenters across the country, she had a dream of working for a well known radio station during her stint at Phalaborwa community radio station.
After hearing the good news that the first and only Limpopo commercial radio station will be opened in the Province, with her broadcasting experience, she thought that her dream of working for a famed radio station is not far from being achieved.
Although she expected to become one of Capricorn fm’s presenters, she didn’t expect it so soon which is why she excluded it on her resolution list for 2009.
“When the station opened in 2007, I knew that one day I would work for the station and it will happen at one point but not so fast like this”. Said Nyango
When she was called to come for the Capricorn fm’s auditions, she didn’t believe her ears thinking that her friends were playing prank at her. She was auditioned and came out tops.
Nyango promised that she will go all out and give the best she can to the station’s more than 1.5 million listeners.
“Nthateng came and played her part, I am here to play mine” vowed Nyango.
While at the community radio station, Nyango used to listen to Nthateng Lerata’s show and that became an added advantage to fill Lerata’s shoes.
“I am planning to keep the listeners tuned and hopefully bring more to the show”. said elated Nyango adding that since being behind the mic, the response has been overwhelming.
