The State Information Technology Agency (SITA) Limpopo was established on 1st April 1999 with a total staff of less than 10, today the Limpopo region has almost 80 employees. SITA Limpopo is situated in the heart of Polokwane - the capital city of Limpopo. It has positioned itself in 7 locations in the province.
SITA Limpopo renders services to 9 national departments, 10 provincial departments, 32 municipalities, 3 government agencies 8 multipurpose centre and a Walk In Training Centre. Services range from WAN support and assessment, support of provincial main frame , LAN and Desktop, ICT Training, business advisory services, Monitoring, Project Management, Information Security Services, website development, etc.
Within the departments, SITA supports more or less 10 000 workstations and 75 different systems and 272 servers. Our client base consists of more than 5 100 offices through out the province. Out of 10 provincial departments, seven departments have integrated into SITA while Finance, Transport and Health and Welfare negotiations are at advanced stage.
SITA Limpopo is rolling out PALS to all municipal libraries and education multipurpose centers. It successfully developed websites for the province, Sekhukhune District Municipality which is a pilot, Aganang, Bela Bela, Thabazimbi, Thulamela (all local municipalities), Mopani District Municipality. In partnership with Local Government and Housing Department SITA is deploying Government Common Core Network and Virtual Private Network for the establishment of a tele-communications infrastructure across municipalities.
Joint Program between SITA and Provincial leadership is to: share services provision centre of excellence for all tiers of government.; establishment of a province wide area network, data centres to be located at strategic places in the province to service the ICT needs of Government and NGO’s, development of a nascent ICT sector in Limpopo through the e-Government strategy, manage ICT government tender and retention of skills within the province.
SITA is supported by GITOC which advises on strategic issues such as consolidation of server farms, one domain name for the province which will reduce costs of provincial IT infrastructure etc. SITA Limpopo scooped four awards in branding transformation. It paved ways to SITAzens in naming turn around as"Tswelopele". Its logo depicts long term strategy with all its internal and external clients.
